I love to go deeper into individual ingredients of cosmetics to know what exactly they do for me. Below I list the most important ingredients of Effaclar Duo+ and what good they bring to your skin. It is worth to go through them, since it helps to build understanding of what manufacturers put inside cosmetics and why they do that. Moreover progressively you will get to know which ingredient is good for you and which you should rather avoid.

EXFOLIATING ACTION
LHA Lipo Hydroxy Acid 0.3 - we already know that exfoliation is the basis of treatment for oily skin / mixed / acne (and aging). LHA supports the skin in the discharge of defaulting dead cells and beautifully renews its surface.
Salicylic acid 0.5% - we all know it, except that exfoliates it has comedolytic effects. Both acids nicely work together to prevent the formation of comedones and reduce the number of existing ones.
SEBO-REGULATING AND MATTING ACTION
Zinc PCA and Silica, in a nutshell, have matting and antibacterial activity, but Effaclar Duo+ also contains 0.1% linoleic acid, which significantly improves the quality of sebum which in case of problematic skin is not balanced and is high largely responsible for the formation of blackheads.
ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTIFUNGAL ACTION
Piroctone olamine 0.5% inhibits the growth of Malassezia furfur, skin disease, which is very willing to settle in oily, deregulated and pro-inflammatory skin, causing seborrheic dermatitis.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY EFFECT
Niacinamide (vitamin. B3) 3% is a substance often used by the LRP, and not only in cosmetics for acne skin. Niacinamide gives soothing and anti-itching action, as well as it has anti-inflammatory properties.
SOOTHING EFFECT
The thermal water La Roche- Posay. We remember that the water applied to the skin does not moisturises, but soothes, calms and strengthens its resistance. Thermal water from the source of La Roche- Posay is exceptionally rich in selenium, an element with powerful antioxidant. The neutralisation of free radicals is very important to care for oily, acne prone skin, which due to the its pro-inflammatory inclinations generates large amounts of free radicals.
BRIGHTENING EFFECT
And here we have the innovation, Procerad which is synthetic ceramide II (2-oleamido-1,3-octadecanediol), reducing red-inflammatory traces and preventing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
MY EXPERIENCE:
With my skin, you never know if tomorrow it will get oily with pimples and blackheads, or beautifully clean and fresh. But when I use Effaclar Duo regularly for some period of time during the year, my skin gets balanced and maintains its calm and harmony. I use it as prevention and since then I do observe only ZEN on my skin :)
