The beginning of the new year is here and many people tend to make New Year resolutions to improve themselves and their life habits. We've all heard of „New Year, new me“ saying, but the truth is that many of the promises we make to ourselves tend to be broken after a few weeks. But, ladies (and gentlemen), this year we are going to stick to them! We bring you some pieces of advice to consider regarding improving your skin, hair, nails and health and confidence in general.
Drink more water
You've definitely heard this one many times before, but it's not one of the most popular New Year resolutions for nothing! Being hydrated is the most important thing when it comes to our health in general, as it affects virtually everything in our system! If you're well-hydrated and drink lots of water on a regular basis you'll soon start to see various great benefits of this simple drink. Your body, skin, hair and even your mind will be thankful for this New Year's resolution.
It can be a bit hard to stick to this resolution in the start, but as the time passes you'll develop a habit of drinking at least 2 liters of water a day. There are many free smartphone apps that will help you track your water intake and remind you to drink it when you forget. You should also try kicking out unhealthy sodas and alcohol.
Try exercising more often
You don't have to hit the gym every single day, for two hours a day. Modern, fast lifestyle makes that almost impossible. However, even things that may seem small and useless at first, will make great results if you stick to it. E.g., use the stairs, not the elevator. You can also try getting off the bus one stop earlier on your way to work and walk. Or even better, don't go by bus or your car at all – try walking or cycling to work! Not only that it's good for your body and mind, but it's also good for the environment and it's cheaper.
Take care of your face
- Exfoliate and cleanse instead of picking the face
Regular exfoliation and cleansing of your face will significantly reduce the number of blackheads and pimples on your face. However, if some of them appear, you must resist the urge to pick them. You'll scar yourself for nothing as you'll do no good and just infect your face while picking.
- Use quality make-up brushes
When it comes to make-up, one of the most important things you shouldn't be cheap on are makeup brushes. Even though the professional brushes can be rather expensive, the results and the look they give you is incomparable to amateur make-up brushes. If you're lucky, you could try looking for them on a sale. You'll save some money that way.
- Regularly clean your makeup brushes
Since we've mentioned the brushes in a previous “resolution”, we’ll stick with them for a little while. There are many people with a kind of dirty habit of not washing their makeup brushes regularly or even not washing them at all! Hygiene is extremely important since brushes can be the perfect nest for bad bacteria if you don’t wash them at least once a month.
Sufficient amount of sleep
It’s extremely important for our system that you get enough sleep. Insufficient amount of sleep reflects on our hair, skin, body, and health in general so you should always have 6-8 hours of sleep. Everything above that is too much, and below is too little.
