Have You Known of These Burdock Root Benefits?

We have mentioned in previous articles the benefits of some of the most powerful plants in the world, such as turmeric, ginger, aloe vera, castor oil, olive oil, etc. But, there's one plant that also offers a number of health benefits, but not many people are aware of it. Burdock, a plant related to sunflower and daisy, known for its spurs, has shown to be a great remedy for a number of health problems, amongst which for cancer, inflammation, and diabetes. This is why it has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. 

Burdock root has strong diuretic properties, which means it activates the kidneys and cleanses them, while avoiding water retention. They provoke urination, which results in removing the harmful parts from the blood and the body - that way they purify the blood and aid the circulation.

Furthermore, a study conducted in 2015 has proven that burdock root has a positive influence on blood sugar in mice, that is, that it significantly reduces it. A research conducted in 2010 showed that burdock root is replete in antioxidants,  which is why it was so vastly used in Eastern medicine. Amongst other beneficial ingredients, burdock root contains antioxidants which combat free radicals and fight the signs of aging, in particular, they reduce the development of wrinkles

Another study showed that this plant has a negative influence on cancer cell growth - it has antimutagenic properties that may prevent the development of tumors caused by cancer. Burdock root has the ability to reduce blood pressure. It contains potassium, which boosts the blood flow in the blood vessels. Burdock root has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. This is why it has such a potent influence while aiding some of the common skin issues, such as psoriasis, eczema, and acne. Also, these characteristics make burdock root great for easing different kinds of pains and aches

Another great ingredient of burdock root are phytosterols, whose properties work magic for hair. They improve the hair and scalp health, they fight dandruff, they strengthen the hair follicles, reducing the hair loss and increasing the hair thickness. 

Burdock root can easily be found in nature. It can be eaten as a raw vegetable, or you can cook it in various soups, stews, teas, etc. One of the best ways to consume burdock root is by making a tea of it. Burdock plant tea is known for its beneficial characteristics, such as boosting the immune system, healing damaged organs in the body such as liver, and even preventing cancer

Even though there are numerous beneficial traits of this amazing plant, there are some people that should still avoid consuming it. Pregnant women should abstain of using it, because it may stimulate premature labor. Also, it may cause hypoglycemia, so anyone who's on blood sugar - lowering medicine should also avoid taking burdock root. Furthermore, if you have skin problems, keep in mind that the common side effect of burdock root consumption is rash.
