A lot of women (and men) prefer light hair over dark. This is especially the case during summer. Hair dyeing has been very popular for a very long time, ever since the ancient Egyptians (but, obviously, their goal was to achieve hair as dark as it gets). Some studies show that 69 percent of women feel more attractive after dyeing their hair, and 50 percent of women dye it regularly! If you’re one of the people who prefer light hair but want to stay away from harsh chemicals, we have good news for you! We bring you the best natural, homemade recipes to lighten your hair without damaging it:
Lemon juice
You’ve probably heard of this little trick; as lemon juice is one of the easiest and commonest solutions for this matter. Simply cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a spray bottle and mix it with a teaspoon of oil. Oil will help your hair by keeping it from drying out, which may occur due to the very drying citric acid in lemon. After applying the lemon juice to the hair, sit in the sun for a couple hours.
Other than being used as a cleaning product, it can also naturally lighten the hair. simply mix it with a little water in order to get a paste-like form and massage the paste into your scalp and hair. Use it once a week to notice the optimal results.
Mix one ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup of water. Apple cider vinegar is commonly used because it has a more pleasant odor than other kinds of vinegar and is great for cleaning harmful chemical buildup. Apply the mixture to your hair after shampooing and leave it that way for 20-30 minutes. After rinsing it with fresh water and dry normally.
Another great combination is vinegar with honey, which is another great lightening substance because of its ingredient hydrogen peroxide. Mix 2 cups of vinegar with 1 cup of raw honey and 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and apply it to the damp hair. You can leave the mixture overnight and rinse in the morning.
Other than smelling so attractively, cinnamon also has excellent lightening properties. Mix a ½ of your conditioner with just enough cinnamon to form a thick paste. Apply to the hair and leave it that way for 3-4 hours, or even overnight. Rinse with fresh water after use and notice the silkiness and softness of the hair. Another plus is its sunscreen property, which will protect your hair from the harmful sun rays.
Chamomile tea is not used only for tea. It has great lightening characteristics. Boil the water and dip the tea bag for about 10 minutes. Leave it to cool down and after put it in a spray bottle and apply to the hair. Stay in the sun for about 30 minutes and wash it off.
To sum up, if you desire light hair, but want to avoid harsh chemicals and spending a lot of money, try some of these options and see the results for yourself!
